Introduction to Health Science (AM Class - 2 Units)
Introduction to Health Science is recommended as a one-semester course that targets 10th, 11th and 12th grade students and is designed as an elective course to acquaint and interest occupational, college prep, and AP students in health careers. Introduction to Health Science should confirm an interest in a health career, from physician, veterinarian, and physical therapist to registered nurse, pharmacist, and nursing assistant.

Health Care Assisting (CNA) (5553)
Health Care Assisting is a course focusing on nursing assistant skills. Topics include hand washing, bed making, abbreviations, vital signs, standard precautions, communication skills, and documentation skills. After 60 hours of classroom and lab instruction and practice, the student will be required to complete 40 hours of clinical instruction at a skilled care facility nearby. After successful completion of the 100 hour course, a student can apply to take the state CNA certification exam.
